Not only was the consultant I saw, rude and dismissive. The hospital trust backed him with absolutely zero regard for my welfare. I went to see a neurology 'professor' who has a large nhs clinic, but I didn't want to wait another year on top of the 3.5 I've already waited due to the Incompetence of the NHS services I've recieved so far, so I paid to see him at his private clinic in Queens square London. I had a test that the consultant that royal surrey refused to consider, which showed that the consultant was wrong to blame my past mental health diagnosis and the trust were just as wrong for blindly backing the consultant. I got no apology. I will probably never get one. But if you value yourself or your family, go somewhere else

The Royal Surrey NHS team under Mr Dan Lindfield were excellent in all regards as indicated above. I am very proud of our NHS system as I paid for private healthcare all my working life ( as well as my taxes towards the NHS0 and now have access to the same care through the NHS.

Planned c section went very well. Surgical team and my midwife in recovery were great. Postnatal staff were pretty awful, especially the night team. Not a single midwife on postnatal touched my baby, and due to covid my husband wasn't allowed to stay. I had to try and take care of my baby alone when I couldn't move or feel anything. Very loud conversations overnight (just general chitchat) and the lactation specialist was horrific. She had me and baby in hysterics and was getting visibly frustrated when my baby wouldn't breastfeed to the point I asked her to move away as she was man handling my baby and my nipple without asking me if she could touch me.

My brother-in-law was seriously ill in RSH for a couple of weeks very recently and our family were urgently asked to go in late one afternoon. The staff on duty that afternoon were unbelievably kind, caring and compassionate. I can't praise them enough, in particular the doctors on Ewhurst Ward and the doctors and nurses of Theatre 10 that afternoon for the amount of time they gave to us all that sad day. The care and respect my brother-in-law received that day and until he passed away a few days later from the nurses and doctors undoubtedly helped the family at a very difficult time. It restored my faith in the NHS and in particular The RSH Guildford. A big thank you to all.

An expected one day assesment turned into an eight week stay during which the wonderful staff undoubtedly saved my life twice, (arguably three times). Initially admitted for treatment for dvt, I suffered a pulmonary embolism that would have killed me had I not been in hospital at the time. After flip flopping from bed to bed I ended up under the care of the nursing staff on Onslow Ward. There is nothing I can say about these wonderful people other than they are proof that nursing is a vocation and not a job. They tolerated my bad moods, my phone phobia, and a host of other issues with a smile. I have no doubt that another hospital would have missed the D.I.C diagnosis that ultimately saved my life for a second time. Cheerfully, but sympathetically ignoring my insistence that I was fit to leave, the entire team persisted until eventually they got to the bottom of what was going on - despite my curmudgeonly whining and self pity. If you have to be ill, this is the place to do it. The physiotherapy staff are exceptional, and even the food defies expectations. Special thanks to Shona and Liam, I'll let you know if I get my happy ever after. Gerard McGuckin (aka Gerard Cowes)

I have had all my medical care done at the Royal Surrey County Hospital over the last thirty years. I have been very pleased in general with the treatment, care and results. I do understand that the Hospital staff are under a great amount of pressure, not only due to staff and other shortages. Courtesy and good manners beget the same and I don't believe that any patient should assume an attitude of entitlement. I bear in mind that all hospital staff are human and occasionally there are blips, but in my book, they perform magnificently under the circumstances and conditions.

Written by a husband. I took my wife to the A&E at 11.40pm with serious and possibly dangerous mental health problems.. in thirteen hours she saw a triage nurse and one doctor who asked her to leave and referred her to cmht. . My personal experience of each visit to this hospital over the years for myself or relatives and for whatever dept has always been that the staff quite frankly don't care. With the exception of the a and e receptionist this visit who was compassionate. Having lived through various serious mental health episodes with my wife it is quite clear that the A&E doctors are absolutely clueless when it comes to mental health. What is worse is that the mental health team who assessed my wife 11 hours later sent a suicidal and psychotic patient home. They clearly didn't read her notes and clearly didn't give a damn about her. Despicable care provision. The dept appeared dirty and grubby especially the toilets. As for minors, the staff just don't have the capacity to come across as caring. Doctors and nurses rushed off their feet. I don't think so. Discussion about what they were doing at the weekend was more important. This was witnessed for hours whilst waiting. My respect for the medical profession has slowly eroded over the last year or so. Having experienced this emergency visit on the 5th December 17 my respect has gone. The management of this hospital overall appears incompetent and completely uncaring. It needs to be addressed and fast.

I had an oesophagectomy in May 2017, with five days in intensive care and two days on a specialist ward. The nurses and attendant doctors and staff were very helpful and caring and I was discharged within a week with good follow up home recovery. I would highly recommend this hospital!
